Jack Brent worked for C.F. Braun & Co for more than 40 years. He started as a civil engineer and worked there in various positions before becoming president in 1990 at which time he was also made a vice-president of Brown & Root Braun. Jack considered himself very fortunate because he loved his work. He often said his job was to travel around the world making friends for his company.
During his career Jack also worked as a private consultant in international development and project management and served on various boards of directors, including the board of Huntington Memorial Hospital in Pasadena.
Jack served in the United States Navy during World War II and earned Bachelors and Masters degrees in Civil Engineering from the University of Southern California.
Jack was born in New York City to Marie Wahler Brent and Arthur Norris Brent. He is survived by his six children: Dallas Brent Tolton (Justin), Lorraine Brent Hansen (Robert), David Brent (Roshawn), Patricia Brent (Stan Burnett), Jeanne Brent (Gary Watson) and John Brent. He is also survived by 18 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren and his sisters Jeanne Swope and Carole Williams. He was preceded in death by his wife of 27 years, Doreen Brittain Brent.
Services will be held on Saturday, April 16, 2011 at 1pm at Rose Hills Alhambra, 550 East Main Street, Alhambra, Ca. 91801
