Many years later I found out of Morrie's passing and wanted to pay my respects by posting here. Morrie helped me buy my first new car and was always pushing me to be the best I could be!

Hard to believe it's been 10 years since Morrie's passing...He was a "sage" in more ways than just in name...In all my 50+ years as a media rep I never dealt with a client who was as smart, as innovative, as determined to succeed as Morrie...I learned a lot from him about how to develop and sustain a deep client/rep relationship ...albeit we had our moments, too. He would remind me daily that my reason for being in his office was to "sell cars" and that everything I suggest he do was aimed at that objective...I often tell whoever will listen of my years of working with Morrie and what a unique client he was...He was not only my client but also my friend...May he R.I.P... One of my first jobs growing up was working for Universal City Datsun.
My father, Leonard Hornreich, and Morrie were both shareholders in the original auto dealership. I was taught how to lube and oil cars, undercoat new vehicles, and was even flown to Macon, GA to buy and drive back the famous 240 Z which the public could not get enough of. I have many memories of Morrie and can attest to his genius in advertising, his amazing appetite and passion for life, and his generousity. He worked tirelessly and was deeply devoted to his children. Isn't that one of the highest virtues that can be possessed in this life? I will always have a place in my heart for Morrie and his kids, and extend my condolences to all who loved and knew Morrie. Your friend, Howard Hornreich

To the Schrage family. We are deeply saddened to hear of Morrie's passing. I had the good fortune as a young Los Angeles Times sales representative to call on him for five years. As a rookie, calling on one of the most high profile dealers in Los Angeles was daunting. He was demanding, creative, innovative and tough. He taught me quite a bit about the advertising business as well as business relationships that helped me throughout my career. I was fortunate to remain friends with Morrie for another twenty years until we left the Los Angeles area. I know he was very proud of his family and I know you will all miss him greatly.

Morrie will always be remembered by me as a unique individual with a very generous heart. He was much more than a "car guy"...he was a marketing genuis. My best memories in the radio biz were spent in his office. It was both an honor and pleasure to have known him and I owe him a great debt of gratitude for what he meant to my career. May he rest in peace....Jerry Symon
