Gary Errol Carmel

July 21, 1939 - February 23, 2017 Gary Errol Carmel grew up in Burbank, California, the son of Maxwell Carmel and Beatrice (Green) Carmel. He loved the arts being that his father had been secretary to Errol Flynn and his mother had been a piano teacher. He was a contract songwriter for Warner Brothers and wrote the lyrics for the songs, Under Branches and Barefoot Gentleman with the group, The Association. He had a passion for nature and always had his eyes to the skies looking for birds of prey. He was a member of the Southern California Falconer's Association. He had a B.A. in cultural anthropology and an appreciation and compassion for diverse cultures. In later years, he touched many peoples lives as a Tai Chi teacher, where he met his partner, Frances Saslow-Gold, who was by his side through his brain surgery and his subsequent decline in health. His legacy of love for life, music and nature will be carried on by his two children, Dion and Lawrence and his grandchildren, Erin and Alison.
