MEDNICK, Richard Born November 28, 1933, in Long Beach, CA. Passed away on February 5, 2008, in Santa Monica, CA. He was the beloved fiance of Harriet Bonn and the loving father of Lisa Mednick Owen of New York City, David Mednick of Delray Beach, Florida, and Irene Mednick Ray of Austin, Texas. Devoted grandfather of Alex and Teddy Owen, Jordana and Maya Mednick, and Emily and Kayla Ray. He is also survived by his brother, Arnold Mednick; his ex-wife, Marcia Mednick of Austin, Texas; many beloved nieces and nephews; and Harriet's children, Alan, Raleigh, Nicole; and granddaughter, Jessica. Richard was a 1st Lieutenant in the U.S. Army from 1955-1957. He received his B.A. from UCLA in 1954, his Masters of Education from USC in 1955 and his JD from Loyola University in 1966. He was a U.S. Bankruptcy Judge from 1976 to 1986, followed by a private practice in bankruptcy law. He taught Business Law at Pierce Community College for 40 years and at Santa Monica City College for ten years. He also taught at many law schools in the Los Angeles area. Richard was an early and long-time member of Temple Aliyah in Woodland Hills. At the time of his death, he was an active member of the PLATO Society at UCLA and a vibrant contributor in Torah Study Class at Temple Isaiah in West Los Angeles. A private memorial service was held on February 7th at Richard and Harriet's home. A public memorial service will be held at a later date.
