ROSS, Harry Mathias Feb. 12, 1929-May 26, 2011 Harry Ross of Ojai, California, passed away on May 26, 2011 in is home surrounded by his family. He was born in 1929 and raised in Los Angeles where he spent most of his life. In 1948, Harry married his high school sweetheart, Ann Ponzio, and together they raised their twin sons and daughter with an abundance of love and a strong family value. During the Great Depression, Harry started working at age 12 with three paper routes. He was a very industrious and successful businessman, building his fabrication factory and supporting many other startup companies. He enjoyed investing in people in whom he saw vision. In his later years he started an orchard in Ojai; his fruit and vegetable stand on Reeves road becoming a local institution. Harry had a great zest for life and adventure. He and Ann loved to travel, touring the world from the markets of Hong Kong to the wilds of Africa. His kindness and generosity was felt by all who knew him. Harry is survived by his sons, Marc and Michael, his daughter Juli, his sisters Darlene and Cecelia and brother Arnold, his many beloved grandchildren and two great grandchildren. He leaves behind a wealth of family and friends who loved and cherished him to the end. Memorial reception will be held on Monday, May 30 from 4:00 to 7:00pm at the Friendly Hills Country Club, 8500 S. Villaverde Drive, Whittier, CA 90605.
