Hickok, Dennis Lee May 1, 1954 - August 16, 2012 Dennis passed away following a courageous battle with a rare disease. Born in Rochester, MN, son of the late Jean E. (Dallman) and Henry M. Hickok, Dennis lived in Texas before settling in West Hollywood, CA. Most people knew this fun loving, energetic and extremely talented designer and landscape architect as "Den", "the most comfortable room in the house". For Dennis, his profession was personal, and intertwined with his passion for life. His exceptional work in urban planning and landscape architecture on projects like The Getty Center and Los Angeles Civic Center Mall, along with projects in Saint-Barthelemy, Oahu, Texas, Phuket, Laguna Niguel, and Santa Barbara, many of which were for well-known celebrities, athletes, politicians, and businessmen, was second only to his own zest for life and ability to make an entrance and an impression. Dennis was an Eagle Scout, accomplished sailor, dive master and master entertainer. Dennis practiced at his firm D.H. Landscape Architecture, Inc., but his years with SWA, POD and Richard Meier & Partners Architects, and the U. of Oregon were equally dear to his heart. He is survived by his brother Mike, two Goddaughters, and his beloved "family" of friends. He leaves a lasting legacy of beautiful projects, and a profound impact on those he knew. He will be sorely missed. A memorial service will be held in Los Angeles in Oct/Nov. If interested, please email: firstname.lastname@example.org. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Dennis Hickok Memorial Fund, Gamehaven Boy Scout Council - Minnesota, or to the Department of Landscape Architecture, University of Oregon, Eugene, in the name of Dennis Hickok.
