Obituary Condolences

PFISTER, John Robert October 28, 1964 - October 19, 2012 John R. Pfister, 47, died October 19, 2012, from progressive multifocal leukoencephalopathy (PML), a rare viral disease caused by the medicine he took to treat multiple sclerosis. At the time of his death, John was the most frequently visited resident in the history of the Glenbrook Rehabilitation and Skilled Nursing Center in Fort Wayne, Indiana, with family and friends having spent time with him every single day from his admission in 2010 until his death. John is survived by his son Brett, 18, daughter Breana, 12, and their mother, Renee, 45, the love of his life. He was born October 28, 1964, as the second child of Robert Pfister, a farmer, and Janice (Bahler) Pfister, a homemaker. His parents also survive, as do his sisters Nancy and Elaine; brother Robert; brothers-in-law Jay Brandenberger, Shane Chapin, and Andrew Sklar; nephews Max Chapin and Jesse Brandenberger; and niece Cecelia Chapin. John lived life with integrity, loved his children more than anything in the world, and (for those fortunate enough to have known him) will be remembered for his good humor, generous heart and innate sense of fairness. He will be sorely missed.
