On March 25th the World lost one of the most generous, respected men in the Gold and Rare Coin Industry. Loved by his family, friends and people that "worked with him," as he never considered anybody working for him. Steve was born in Los Angeles and went to Inglewood High School where he graduated as a Valedictorian, being a top football player and running faster than anybody else in the field. At age 15 his mother gave him a book on rare coins to help her son develop a hobby. In a short while Steve started to work after school at the local coin store and developed a 50 year extraordinary career leaving a legacy of two companies Morgan Gold and Steve Deeds Rare Coins. At his funeral Mark, one of his high school friends, said that "Steve was really fun, had a great sense of humor and was hot tempered, however his bark was much bigger than his bite; he was a 6'4" teddy bear." Another friend recalled how his brain was better than any Wall Street computer, and how Steve used to light up a room when he entered and always was willing to help without expecting anything in return. Steve developed a great appreciation for art and beauty, collecting beautiful pieces along his life. He passed away at 65 years young and he will be missed the most by his son Nicholas and his former wife and best friend Helena, who Steve to his last days called "Bunny".
