Rhoda W. Friedman, age 75, died Friday, April 5, 2013. She was born to the late Emmanuel H. and Sara Weingarten, February 2, 1938, in Elyria, Ohio. Rhoda graduated from Elyria High School in 1955, received a BA in English from the University of Michigan in 1959, and a Masters Degree in Library Science from California State University Fullerton. She married Arthur S. Friedman, M.D. December 21, 1958, and they lived together in Detroit, Michigan, before moving to southern California in 1963. Rhoda raised two children in Placentia, CA. She and her husband Arthur were long time members of Temple Beth Tikvah in Fullerton. Later they moved to Newport Beach where Rhoda worked for several years as a research librarian for the firm, Kenneth Leventhal. She and her husband Arthur were founding members of Heritage Pointe in Mission Viejo. Rhoda was a dedicated volunteer at Heritage Pointe for more than 10 years. She was also a contributing writer for the Heritage Pointe bulletin. Rhoda was an avid skier and hiked weekly in the Laguna Hills. She and Arthur traveled around the world, visiting all seven continents. Rhoda is survived by her husband of 54 years Arthur, two children and their spouses, David and Ellen Friedman and Lauri and David Carey; she is also survived by 6 grandchildren, Sydney (Victor) Friedman Fliorent, Samuel Friedman, Anna, Ethan, Julia, and Hayden Carey and 1 great-grandchild, Simone Fliorent.
The funeral will be held on Monday, April 8 at 10:00 a.m. at Pacific View Memorial Park in Corona del Mar. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Heritage Pointe, 27356 Bellogente, Mission Viejo, CA 92691.
