William Patrick KEANE III

William KEANE Obituary

KEANE III, William Patrick Passed away at home on June 11, 2013, after a long and courageous struggle with Parkinson's Disease. His heart was broken by the loss of his son a week earlier to Lung Cancer. Bill was born in Santa Monica July 15, 1936, graduated from Santa Monica High School before going on to USC where he was a proud member of Phi Kappa Psi. Bill remained an avid USC fan his entire life, never missing a football game and wearing cardinal and gold on any and all occasions! The USC Marching Band even played at one of his birthday parties. An active member of the Jonathan Club since 1971 where he served as President of the Ski Club as well as Commodore of the Yacht Club, Bill met his beloved wife Sue through his passion for skiing, and the two of them spent many fun-filled years on ski slopes everywhere. Bill and Sue shared a passion for travel, especially active travel. Papa Bill loved family vacations and included his son, daughter-in-law, grandchildren and daughter as often as he could.
Bill celebrated 50 years as a stockbroker, retiring in 2009. He did the weekly "Bond Income Report" on KWHY Television for many years when it was the station for the latest news of the stock market. An active member of Sertoma, Bill's kindness motivated his community involvement. His beloved wife Sue, his daughter Stacy, his daughter-in-law Denise, grandchildren Katie and Patrick, and his brother Sterling survive. His family and many friends mourn the loss of his ever-present smile and gentle love. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to The Lung Cancer Foundation of America (www.lcfamerica.com) in honor of his son.

Sorry to hear of this. Our class at Samohi always enjoyed Bill's friendship. I didn't know him well but remember him and loved to read of his family gatherings. Condolences to all his family and good friends.

Bill - Thanks for the best of friendship and fun memories. Every single time, whether it was just a phone call or an extensive trip - it was always entertaining! Your kindness has made the world a better place. I learned so much from you and will always remember those valuable lessons and tricks to life that you shared. I was especially lucky to have shared several of the USC games and tailgates together. We move on to share so many more with Sue and Family, but will always make sure to include kind thoughts about you. Fight On! Your friends
