Born in Chicago to Irving Berman and Ada Berman Gold; died peacefully at home on his birthday, surrounded by those who loved him. He exemplified strength, courage, and grace in his fight against cancer. He will be remembered for his quick wit, his kindness, his love of knowledge, and his generosity. He was passionate about Chicago sports, all manner of history and books, classical music, theatre, travel, and above all, his family and The Cubs. He is survived by Sandra, his loving wife and best friend of 50 years; his devoted children, Jennifer Berman, Rachel and son-in-law Kevin Simon, Ross and daughter-in-law Robin Berman; his loving grandchildren, Gideon, Arielle, and Dahvi Simon, and Sophie and Ezra Berman; his sister Francine (Melvin) Shapiro, and his mother-in-law, Rose Mendelsohn. We are all diminished by this loss, but his humor, wisdom, and gentle spirit will live on within us.
