Etta Kehela Obituary
Etta Kehela, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and mother-in-law, passed away peacefully at 5:11 p.m. on Thursday, June 27, 2013 in Los Angeles, California, surrounded by her adoring children. Her death came 89 years and one day after her birth in Brooklyn, New York.
In July 1952, Etta Tannenbaum visited Los Angeles on vacation and decided to make it her home. She was married for 47 years to Edmund F. Kehela, who passed away in January 2007. In addition to raising her family, she worked as a Medical Records Technician at the Jewish Home for the Aged.
Etta loved travel, theatre, opera, film, books, cooking, and baking.
She is survived by her children Arlene Kehela Mar of Studio City, Steve Kehela of Studio City, and Karen Sherwood of New York and Los Angeles. She leaves behind three devoted grandchildren Samantha Mar and Will and Charlie Sherwood.
Etta's funeral will take place at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, July 3rd at Eden Memorial Park, 11500 Sepulveda Blvd., Mission Hills.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Brandeis University Annual Fund (www.brandeis.edu).

To know Etta, was to love her.
She was someone who valued and cared about people and family. She made everyone feel special and always took the time to listen and give positive support to all those that touched her life.
Etta always had a funny story to share with my son Chad about our family when she was a young girl growing up in New York. My family will always cherish the Passover Seders she hosted and the wonderful memories we made.
