May 20, 1924 - December 19, 2013 Lois Reinhart Shields Stone Born in Youngstown, Ohio in 1924, daughter of Max and Hessie Reinhart, and sister to Lee Brody. She graduated from Lincoln High School in Elwood City, and then from Syracuse University, Cum Laude in 1945 after which she traveled by train to her new life in California in 1947. She married Harold Shields in 1950 in Los Angeles, where they were both community leaders and activists. Following Harold's death, she married Ken Stone in 1967, and they enjoyed the arts and traveled the world. In 1972 Ken and Lois founded Specialty Motors. In 1989 she retired to enjoy life with Ken and their many close friends and family. Her many community involvements included being a patron of the arts, an initial starter of the Democratic Club in Culver City in 1955, First Lady of Culver City in 1956-58, a founding member of Temple Akiba and president of their sisterhood, a natural history museum docent, Women For leader, book group member for over 50 years, businesswomen, aunt, wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Her family and friends were her constant joy. Her Daughter Laurie Hurl and Son Brad Shields were devoted to Lois along with her Son-in-law Jim Hurl and deceased Daughter-in-law Julie Shields. Lois's Grandchildren Tyler Hurl, Mike & Kellie Larsen, Greg & Robin Bergen and grandchildren Cameron and C-J, were showered with love and affection. She treated them with unconditional love. All of Lois's family and friend's lives were enriched by her love, kind spirit and heart. She was accepting of all, wise and giving. She'll always be remembered as the woman who loved everyone. She is survived by children Laurie and Jim Hurl, Bradley Shields, along with Grandchildren Kellie and Mike Larsen, Robin and Greg Bergen and Tyler Hurl and great grandchildren Cameron and C-J.
