Sherman Broidy Obituary

October 24, 1924 - January 3, 2014 Sherman Broidy, 89, passed away January 3, 2014 following a long battle with Parkinson's disease. He grew up in Los Angeles, California. Sherman was awarded the Purple Heart medal for his military service in the Pacific during World War II. He received a bachelor's degree from UC Santa Barbara. Sherman fell in love with Dorothy Horowitz in 1954, and they were married in 1955. He was awarded a master's in education from USC in 1956. Sherman was an educator for 30 years. He derived much satisfaction from his work in real estate, constructing apartment buildings in Whittier, California. Sherman found it very rewarding to serve on the Los Angeles County Grand Jury from 1986 to 1987. Sherman's strength of character and love were an inspiration to his family. Following retirement, he enjoyed traveling with his wife Dorothy, and playing tennis and bridge. He loved spending time with his cherished grandchildren and delighted in all of their accomplishments. Sherman is survived by his loving wife Dorothy, his devoted children and their spouses Claudia and Michael Sterling, Elliott and Robin Broidy, and Michele and David Nastarin, as well has his grandchildren Ian, Brett, Garrett, Jessica, Rachel, Lauren and Nathaniel. Services, Sunday, January 5, 2014 at 10 a.m. at Hillside Memorial Park Mortuary (800) 576-1994
