The second of four children of Frank H. and Vida M. A graduate of UCLA, with a Masters in Education from Pepperdine University, Betty was an elementary school teacher in the Orange Unified School District, retiring in 1977. A lifelong animal lover, she also greatly enjoyed gardening and fishing from the rocks and beach at Emerald Bay.
