I have such wonderful memories of teaching while Sal was my principal at San Dieguito. He hired me over 23 years ago, and I owe him so much for t hat. He was always encouraging, positive, and kind. I am so sorry for your loss. He was a wonderful man.

Sal was principal and friend when I taught at San Dieguito. He was an excellent administrator and helped me become a better educator. He was a champion for each and every student and his family should be VERY proud of the mark he left in this world. May you rest in peace dear friend.

Thank you for all you did for us at San Dieguito, we may not have always showed we appreciated it. But, I promise...we did. My prayers and thoughts are with his family at this time. Sal was my 8th grade History Teacher 48 years ago. He was the best teacher I ever had. He had a way of making the students curious and thirsty for knowledge. A few years later I met and married his nephew so Sal became Uncle Sonny. He has always been someone I looked up to, first as a teacher then as an uncle. I feel so fortunate to have had him in my life and I miss him dearly. Uncle Sonny, rest in peace and know you were dearly loved.

I was 15 yrs. old when I became a student at V.A.S - confused and scared, I was a lost and troubled kid. this mans kindness and dedication taught me that it was ok to trust again. and to the surprise of many...I became the first in my family to graduate! thank you Sal. you will always be remembered fondly.

I was young when Sal was my principle at Valley Alternative School, but I remember him very well.. He was kind and friendly to all... He helped create a "home Like" feeling in a public school, I never even knew the principle of the school I attender prior to V.A.S.. Some person in an office, Sal was involved and was really "there"...

Sal was the Principal of VAS when Diana Borden and I became staff members in 1974. He was a loving, caring, and creative individual with the skill to make a very unique school like VAS function (no easy task). He also had a bold approach, pushing the limits to help make VAS a powerful learning experience for all of the students. This is well reflected in our stellar alumni, and who they have grown to be. Thank you Sal for your dedication, and my sincere condolences go out to all of his loved ones.
