Herbert Earnest Fletcher

Herbert Earnest Fletcher passed away peacefully on July 9th, 2015 at the age of 93. Herb leaves a devoted and loving wife of 67 years, Mona, three children Robert (Alice), Joan (Padraic) and Phillip (Elena), three grand-children, Phillip Jr., Emily and Sarah. He also left behind his sister Ellen (Othmar), six children, their spouses and 10 grand-children. Herb's presence as the patriarch of his family will be missed and always cherished. He will be remembered by his great interest in foriegn affairs, love of classical music, the opera, and his delightful laughter. He gave his family an opportunity to live in several countries and to speak many languages. Herb was adept at relating to people of all cultures, he spoke four languages and was devoted both to his family and to his career. Herb started in the International end of the Motion Picture Industry in sales and distribution of films, television and video. He began as branch manager for Warner Brothers and RKO in several Latin American Territories. Herb was Latin American sales supervisor for Walt Disney Productions for six years and subsequently, European Manager which included the Middle East, with headquarters in Paris. He then took a position with Avco Embassy Pictures as Executive Vice President in charge of International Sales completing his career at Crown International Pictures as Vice President. Herb was Co-Founder of the American Film Market where he served on the Board of Directors and as Vice Chairman. He was a member of the of the Executive Branch of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. The family extends a special thank you to his caring physicians, their staff, and his caretakers that took kind and tender care of Herb during the years of his illness. A memorial will be scheduled at a future date
