Wendy Welch Obituary

June 9, 1950 - November 28, 2016 Wendy Armistead Welch, born June 9, 1950, passed away peacefully in her sleep on the morning of November 28, 2016 at her home in Nashville, TN. Wendy was born and raised in Memphis, TN, where she attended White Station High School. Wendy was an extremely talented pianist. After graduation, she attended the University of Alabama, where she was a piano major, and later attended the Los Angeles School of Court Reporting. She worked as an assistant for Michael Viner and Deborah Raffin in Hollywood, California. In December, 1985, she married musician Bob Welch, a prominent solo artist and former member of Fleetwood Mac. She was Bob's business partner and personally managed Bob's career and music publishing concerns. In 1986, Wendy and Bob relocated to Phoenix, AZ, and in 1992 they moved to Nashville, TN. Wendy is preceded in death by her beloved Bob, and her father, Robert Armistead, whom she adored. She is survived by her mother, Mrs. Betty Cartwright of Memphis, TN, several cousins, and friends, and her "Welch's Warriors" friends on Facebook, who loved her dearly. No services are announced. In lieu of flowers, please make a contribution to the Robert A. and Wendy A. Welch Memorial Scholarship Fund at Belmont University, Nashville, TN. S A G Funeral Home 615-244-5044

This makes me so sad to just see this after all this time. Bob and Wendy rented a house next door to us in Mesa AZ in the 80s. My kids were young and they loved to go over and listen to Bob play the guitar or drums. When Bob and Wendy went to Mardi Gra, they brought a bunch of the beads back for my kids...I told Wendy I wouldn't ask her how she got them. We loved them as neighbors.

Dear Wendy - Took me a while to be able to process this goodbye to you, for though I have known in my soul that you were about to leave for about six months now, it is never easy.

I still have two messages on my cell phone- one was when you had phoned to check on me because you knew I had been sick, and in the hospital. The other was when you phoned me on your Birthday to thank me for sending you those Bob Balloons.
I do not think I have ever known a woman that would rather have balloons than a bouquet of flowers. You were just that way - you sought and saw beauty in unexpected things.

I hope that you are finally at the end of that Rainbow - the one in the print over your desk that I sent you. You to be reunited with Bob, would fill your poor broken heart full of the Love that you had for Bob. It is my solemn wish that you have found him now, and that the two of you are together having a blast.

Goodbye dear friend - and I will see you before we know it I am sure. Thanks for being my friend.

It is with great sadness that I hear of Wendy's passing. I remember her coming to my baby shower when I was pregnant with my daughter Kelly, and the many wonderful gifts she lavished on me. She was a kind and generous lady, possessed of great intellect and a sharp wit. I offer my warmest condolences to her family and friends who loved her, and take comfort in knowing that she is with her beloved Bob once more.
