Sidney Russak Obituary

November 4, 1925 - May 29, 2017 Sidney Russak, MD, died on Memorial Day 2017 of complications of cardiovascular disease. A veteran of WWII, Sidney served in the Naval Hospital Corps and as a medical field assistant in the United States Marines. A graduate from Rutgers University and the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine he entered Residency in General Psychiatry at USC Medical School in 1962 followed by residency in the Division of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. He joined the faculty at USC, eventually becoming Chief and Residency Training Director of the Division of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. Sid touched the lives of countless patients, students and colleagues until his retirement in October 2008. Sid was predeceased by his wife, Beatrice Russak, brother Milton Russak and is survived by his three children and their families. Renee Russak and Marci Pliskin (Isabel and Hannah Pliskin Russak); Ken and Grace (Lowe) Russak (Emily, Madeleine and Olivia Russak), Fern Russak and Sean Schafer (Quinn and Zeph Schafer) and his brother, Phil Russak. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Los Angeles Child Guidance Clinic in honor of Dr. Russak's life and work.
