Elliott Blinderman Obituary

Blinderman, Dr. Elliott E.
Loving husband and father and neurosurgeon died suddenly on January 22nd while on vacation with his wife of 42 years, in Naples, Florida. He was killed on impact in a collision with a motor home. He was 70 years old. Dr. Blinderman was born in Brooklyn, NY on November 26, 1931, graduated Magna Cum Laude from City College of New York, and attended Cornell University Medical Center where he graduated in 1956, and was the recipient of the John Metcalf Polk Award. He is a member of Phi Beta Kappa, Alpha Omega Alpha and Sigma Xi. He came to UCLA's Brain Research Institute after receiving a National Institute of Health fellowship. After completing his neurosurgical residency at UCLA he entered private practice in the Beverly Hills area. He practiced at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. Dr. Blinderman was an Associate Professor of Surgery/Neurosurgery at UCLA and served on its Medical School Admissions Committee. In addition to his wife, Barbara, Dr. Blinderman leaves three adoring children, Lisa (Bill) Justice, Jonathan, and Jennifer (Stephen) Brady; and his brother-in-law, Ronald (Florence) Saypol. Services will be held Sunday, January 27th, at 3 p.m. at Mt. Sinai Memorial Park, 5950 Forest Lawn Drive. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations may be made to the National Museum of Wildlife Art, P.O. Box 6825, Jackson Hole, WY 83002, or to the Elliott E. Blinderman Memorial Fund at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, 8701 W. Third St., #190, Los Angeles, CA 90048. Malinow and Silverman Mortuary 800-710-7100.
