BENNETTSVILLE, S.C. — George Lauchlin "Lauch" McLaurin, 76, passed away on June 5, 2014.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday at the Second Baptist Church in Bennettsville officiated by the Rev. Denny Costner. Burial with military honors will follow at Hillside Memorial Park in Laurinburg.
George was born on June 29, 1937 in Marlboro County, S.C., son of the late Edward Duncan McLaurin and Mable Campbell McLaurin. He was the loving husband to the late Letha Sweatt McLaurin and the late Margaret Beckham McLaurin.
He was a proud veteran of the United States Navy. He enjoyed his work, formerly serving as the vice president of McCarter Electric of Laurinburg and he was the co-owner of K-G Storage Inc., in Lumberton, Whiteville and Dillon. He served as a faithful member of the Second Baptist Church of Bennettsville. He enjoyed fishing, working crossword puzzles, and playing Solitaire. Above all, he was a loving gentleman that truly enjoyed sharing time with his family and friends.
In addition to his parents and wives, he was also predeceased by his son Ronald Wayne Weatherford, brother Archie Clarence "Cheese" McLaurin and grandsons Amos Weatherford and Gary Scarborough.
He is survived by his sons the Rev. Tommy Weatherford of Hamlet, Johnny Weatherford and wife Barbara of Rockingham, Kenny Norris and wife Debbie of Laurel Hill, Kenny Perkins of McColl, S.C., and Carman Perkins of Georgetown, S.C., daughters Patricia "Pat" Paolozzi of Laurinburg, Carol Kirk and husband Robbie of McColl, S.C., Donna Perkins of Florida, and Becky McLean and husband Vernon of McColl, S.C., brothers Edward Duncan "Zeb" McLaurin, Jr. of Dillon, S.C., James "Jim" Alexander McLaurin of Pontiac, S.C., his special friend Molly Grainger of Latta, S.C., a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews, and special co-workers Johnny Hayes, Johanna Norton, and Sharon Arends.
Visitation will be from 7-9 p.m. on Saturday at Richard Boles Funeral Service.
The family requests that memorial donations be made in his memory to Hospice of Scotland County, P.O. Box 1033, Laurinburg, NC 28353 or the Second Baptist Church, 422 State Street, Bennettsville, SC 29512.
