PEMBROKE — Mr. Walter Ray "Daddy Ray" Locklear, Jr., 81, went to his heavenly home on Sept. 11, 2014. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday at Oak Grove Baptist Church in Laurinburg, the Rev. James Earl Henderson officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 7-9 p.m. on Saturday at Thompson's Funeral Home in Pembroke. He was born in Scotland County on March 26, 1933 to the late Walter Ray and Evelyn Locklear. In addition to his parents, Mr. Locklear is preceded in death by his brothers Grady Locklear and Billy Locklear, sisters Marie Raines, Barbara Secrest, and Alline Smiling and son in-law Johnny Helms. Mr. Locklear leaves to cherish his memories his loving wife of 59 years Marjorie Louise Crowell Locklear of the home, six sons: Ronnie Neil Locklear of Pembroke, Ray Edward Locklear of Lumberton, David Harold Locklear and wife Donna of Laurinburg, Michael Kim Locklear of Effingham, S.C., Marvin Victor Jones and wife Linda of Greensboro, and Charlie Daniel Locklear of Pembroke, grandson Henry Charles Cribb who was raised in the home, four daughters: Sharon Louise Blue and husband Curtis of Rowland, Robin Ann Helms of Charlotte, Karen Fay Chavis and husband Chris of the home, and Brenda Evelyn Tarlton and husband Robert of Greenville, S.C., two brothers: Artis Locklear of Rowland and John Locklear and wife Barbara of Charlotte, sisters Mildred Locklear of Pembroke and Peggy Lee of Rockingham, special friend Ernest Primus of Hamlet, 20 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends. Ray was the owner of Ray's Aluminum Siding and Construction Company. He was a teacher of the construction trade to his sons, brothers, nephews and friends. He was a caring husband, father, grandfather and friend. He was a generous and giving man. Services by Thompson's Funeral Home of Pembroke.
