LAURINBURG — Helen King Greene, beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away on Nov. 12, 2013 at Morrison Manor.
She will be remembered always by her family and friends for her vivacious spirit, her love of animals and for being one who put others first.
Helen was born on Feb. 26, 1928 to the late Lonnie O. and Mary C. King in St. Pauls. She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Jesse Lewis Greeen. She retired at the age of 76 from her bookkeeping position with Forster Textiles of Maxton. Her hobbies included reading and gardening.
Surviving are her daughter Cathy Boone and husband Terry of Laurel Hill, her sons Butch Greene of Hamlet and Billy Greene of Wagram, her grandchildren Elizabeth Spangler, Chris Boone and wife Charlotte, Ryan Greene, and Hannah Greene, her great-grandchildren Joshua Sheppard and Carly and Scotty Boone, brother Gene Wright and wife Coralie Wright, her beloved canine companion Scooter, and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Nov. 15 at Richard Boles Funeral Service. A private family service will be held at a later date.
The family requests in lieu of flowers that memorials be made to Hospice of Scotland County, P.O. Box 1033, Laurinburg, NC 28353; Scotland County Humane Society, 1401 West Blvd, Laurinburg, NC 28352 or the Old Laurel Hill Presbyterian Church, 15301 McFarland Road, Laurel Hill, NC 28351.
