LAURINBURG — The Rev. Robert Milford "Bob" Hicks, 75 of Laurinburg passed to his Heavenly home on Monday, April 14, 2014.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday at the East Laurinburg Pentecostal Holiness Church officiated by the Rev. Michael Edds. Burial will follow the service in Hillside Memorial Park.
Robert was born on May 31, 1938 in Augusta, Ga., son of the late Rev. C. Milford Hicks and Evelyn "Bernice" Robertson Hicks. Rev. Hicks was an ordained Assemblies of God minister for over 50 years. He pastored churches in Georgia, Arkansas, Tennessee, North Carolina and South Carolina. He also formerly served as a military chaplain in Tennessee. He and his wife Earline loved serving on mission trips to Mexico, Honduras and India. Bob was also a talented remodeling carpenter and saxophone player. He enjoyed gardening and loved spending time with his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years Earline Monroe Hicks of the home, daughters Debie Waldin (Ernie) of Crestview, Fla. and Teresa Rhodes (Tim) of Pensacola, Fla., his son Bob Hicks (Winston) of Chicago, Ill., six grandchildren: Rebekah Wagner, Jacob Wagner (Stephanie), Rachel Wagner, Andrew Wagner (Amy), Ashley Lamb (Dan), and Ben Rhodes (Amber), two great-grandchildren: Jackson and Sebastian Lamb, his brother the Rev. David Hicks (Joan) of Southern Pines, sisters Carol Couch of Andalusia, Ala. and Mary McDaniel (Ray) of Pinehurst, close Laurinburg relatives Woody and Joyce Pierce, and a host of family and friends.
Visitation will be from 7-9 p.m. on Friday at Richard Boles Funeral Service.
