Sharol Judy Wilkes

MCCOLL, S.C. — Mrs. Sharol Judy Wilkes, 71, passed away on Nov. 19, 2013.

Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. on Thursday at the First Baptist Church of McColl officiated by the Rev. Billy McClellan and the Rev. Joe Elvington. Burial will follow the service in Rogers Cemetery.

Sharol was born in Orangeburg, S.C., daughter of the late Henry C. and Nellie Johnson Judy. She was the loving wife to the late Deery M. Wilkes, Jr. She was a retired home economics school teacher from the Marlboro County School System after many years of dedicated service. During her career, she served at McColl High School and the Marlboro County High School. She was a longtime faithful member of the First Baptist Church in McColl where she formerly served as a Sunday School teacher. She also served as a trustee for Camp Pinehill Baptist Retreat and a volunteer with Scotland Memorial Hospital. Sharol enjoyed sewing and cooking, but truly loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

She is survived by her son David Wilkes and wife Beth of Charlotte, her daughter Lynette Baucom and husband Ron of Laurel Hill, sister Martha J. Hammett of Bamberg, S.C., and three grandchildren: David, Harrison and Amber.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday at Richard Boles Funeral Service.

The family requests that memorial donations be made in her memory to the Camp Pinehill Baptist Retreat, 2096 Baptist Road, Bennettsville, SC 29512 or the First Baptist Church of McColl, 220 N. Main Street, McColl, SC 29570.
