LAUREL HILL — J.C. Dunn, 62, of Laurel Hill passed away at his home on July 9, 2014.
A fireman funeral service will be HELD at 3 p.m. Sunday at the Laurel Hill Baptist Church, officiated by Pastor Don Malpass. Burial will follow in the Woodard Family Cemetery.
J.C. was born in Marlboro County, S.C. on Sept.12, 1951, son of the late Johnny Henry Dunn, Sr. and Pearlie Strickland Dunn. He worked in maintenance formerly with the Scotland County school system and the County of Scotland then retired as a supervisor from Z.V. Pate Inc. He served as a fireman with the Laurel Hill Volunteer Fire Department and retired after more than 30 years of service.
He was a faithful member of the Laurel Hill Baptist Church where loved serving in mission work. J.C. enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family and friends and especially with his grandson.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his son Tommy Dunn, and brothers Bill Dunn and Lacy Dunn.
Dunn is survived by his daughter Tina Dunn of Aberdeen, brother John Dunn, Jr. of Laurinburg, sister Nancy Locklear and husband the Rev. G.B. Locklear of Pembroke, sisters-in-law Jane Dunn of Laurel Hill and Doris Dunn of Carthage, and his grandson Lane Bormet.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. on Saturday at Richard Boles Funeral Service.
The family requests that memorial donations be made to First Bank for the Lane Bormet Scholarship Fund.
