Arlene Hardee

LAURINBURG — Mrs. Arlene Hucks Hardee, age 93 of Laurinburg passed away on Jan. 26, 2015.

Arlene was the daughter of the late William Grier Hucks and Frosty Jordan Hucks, born in Horry County on Sept. 25, 1921. She was the loving and devoted wife to the late Hezekiah B. Hardee. She retired after many years of service from McNair's Dehydrating. She was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church where she formerly served as a Sunday School Teacher. She was a talented seamstress, enjoyed gardening, cooking and crocheting. She dedicated her life to loving and caring for her family and others.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by a son, Daniel Hucks Hardee and grandson, Hezekiah B. Hardee II; her siblings, Archie Elder Hucks, Irma H. Altman, Wyoma Allen, Wildon Hucks and Almeria H. Graham.

Mrs. Hardee leaves behind her children, son, William "Phil" Hardee and wife Sybil of Chester, South Carolina; her daughter, Delores H. Stone and husband Haynes of Laurinburg; five grandchildren, including a special grandson raised as her son, Daniel "Danny" Hardee Jr., and wife Jeanne of Laurinburg; 12 great-grandchildren and her siblings, Jeannie Mae Edge (Harvey) of Laurinburg, Lana Faye Hurt (Tommy) of Greenville, South Carolina, William Grier Hucks, Jr., (Betty) of Aynor, South Carolina, Jackie Ronnie Hucks (Norma Jean) of Laurinburg, Thomas Lanair Hucks (Judy) of North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 10-11 a.m. Thursday, with the service beginning at 11 a.m. in the Richard Boles Funeral Service Chapel. Graveside services will follow at 3 p.m. in the Woodlawn Cemetery in Conway, South Carolina.

The family requests that memorial donations be given in her memory to the First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 883, Laurinburg, NC 28353.
