LAURINBURG — Bert Stanley Bostic, 83, died on May 8, 2014 at his home.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday at the First Baptist Church officiated by the Rev. Ray Sutherland. Burial will follow in Hillside Memorial Park.

He is survived by his wife Gay Waters Bostic, his sons Wallace Bostic of Laurinburg and David Bostic (Linda) of Morrisville, his daughters Karen Ramsey (Rod) of Nashville, N.C., Beth James of Laurinburg, and Sandra Brown (Scott) of Cary, his sisters Ruby Silvers of Ellenboro and Lorelei Hightower of Spartanburg, S.C., three grandchildren: Roxanne Brown, Alex Brown, and Sara Ramsey Smith (BJ), and one great-grandchild: Jessie Elizabeth Smith.

Born on Jan. 7, 1931 in Rutherford County, he was a son of the late Leonard and Ethel Vocht Bostic. He later served with the U.S. Navy from 1948-1952 before starting with Southern Bell and retiring with AT&T as a supervisor.

Bert was a Mason and Shriner and loved traveling on bus tours, golf, and ACC basketball.

Visitation will be from 10-10:55 a.m. on Saturday in the church fellowship hall.
