LAURINBURG — Charles "Ancel" Caulk, 86, of Laurinburg passed away to his heavenly home on Sunday, Sept. 3, 2017.

Ancel was born January 15, 1931, only son of the late Charlie and Elizabeth Russ Caulk. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather who truly loved sharing time with his family. He retired after many years of service in the textile industry as a supervisor for JP Stevens, Inc. He served as a longtime faithful member of Stewartsville Baptist Church. Ancel was a strong, kind, and compassionate man who loved the Lord and enjoyed the simple things in life. He was an avid fisherman, gardener and a true fan of NASCAR racing.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Linda Caulk Barber; son-in- law, Gary Moser and sisters, Petty Smith and Doris Livingston.

He leaves behind his loving wife of 69 years, Mildred Lane Caulk of their home and his daughters, Faye Moser of Conway, S.C.; Ann Purvis (Al) of Bethel; Susan Pifken (Stanley) of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; Beth Tippett (Todd) of Laurinburg; son-in-law, Jay Barber of Laurinburg; eight grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren and many loving friends.

Funeral services will be conducted at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 5 at the Stewartsville Baptist Church with burial following in Hillside Memorial Park. A time of visitation will be held prior to the service on Tuesday beginning at 2 p.m. in the church.

The family request that memorial gifts be made in Mr. Caulk's memory to Christ the Cornerstone Academy, 10401 McColl Road, Laurinburg, NC 28352 or to Scotland Regional Hospice, P.O. Box 1033, Laurinburg, NC 28353.
