LAURINBURG — Charles R. "Dick" Hendricks, 88, went to his heavenly home on Thursday, Dec. 21, 2017 at Morrison Manor.

Born September 25, 1929 in Mecklenburg County, he was the son of the late Grover A. and Mary Yost Hendricks. He attended and received a bachelor's degree from East Carolina University and later retired as the finance director for the city of Laurinburg. He and his late wife, Norma loved to travel and traveled extensively together to over 48 states.

He is survived by his step-son, Robert Allen Flood (Kelly) of Reevesville, S.C.; step-grandchildren, William Todd Howe and Sean Patrick Howe; step great-grandchildren, Ethan Todd Howe, Cole Patrick Flood and Mason Flood; his faithful caregiver, Hilda Locklear of Shannon; and close friends, James and Anna McMillan of Laurinburg.

Along with his wife, he is preceded in death by his step-daughter, Patricia Howe and step-grandson, Allen Patrick Flood.

A funeral service will be at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 23 at First Baptist Church, officiated by the Rev. Dr. Wayne Wike. Burial will follow at Hillside Memorial Park.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church.
