MCCOLL, S.C. — Clarence Bowen, age 83 of McColl, South Carolina, passed away on Dec. 18, 2014 at the McLeod Hospice House in Florence, South Carolina.

Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Sunday at the Oak Grove Baptist Church with burial following in the church cemetery. The Rev. Earl Henderson and the Rev. Roger Atkins will officiate the services.

Clarence was the son of the late Arthur and Katie Dunn Bowen born April 4, 1931. He was a farmer, worked in textiles and retired from Sinclair Lumber Company after many years of service. He was a longtime faithful member of Oak Grove Baptist Church. He loved farming, gardening and sitting on his porch. He will be remembered as a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather.

Preceding him in death are siblings Jimmy Bowen, Judd Bowen, Letha Turner, Clyde Bowen, Charles Bowen, Neil Bowen and Hugh Bowen.

Clarence is survived by his wife of 51 years, Mildred Mae Smith Bowen; his daughter, Lisa Gail Bowen and grandson, Scott Ryan Bowen all of the home in McColl, South Carolina; sisters, Etta Roller of McColl, South Carolina and Linda Chavis of Laurinburg; many nieces, nephews and a host of family and friends.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Saturday at Richard Boles Funeral Service.
