WINSTON-SALEM — Mr. Clayton Raymond Adams, 92, formerly of Laurinburg, passed away at Wake Forest University Baptist Hospital on Feb. 24, 2016.

Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. on Sunday at the First Baptist Church in Laurinburg. Burial will be at 1 p.m. on Monday in the Jessup Grove Baptist Church Cemetery in Pilot Mountain.

Clayton was born Aug. 18, 1923 in Surry County, son of the late Sam and Ida Jessup Adams. He was a proud WWII United States Army veteran. He was a retired farmer and served as a longtime member of the First Baptist Church of Laurinburg. Mr. Adams was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather and friend who will truly be missed.

He is survived by his loving wife of 71 years Doris Nester Adams of their home, daughters Dianne Wheaton (Don) of Winston-Salem and Pamela Wilson (Ronnie) of Lexington, granddaughter Kimberly Bauer (Scott), and great-grandchildren Caitlyn Bauer, Andrew Bauer and Emily Bauer.

Visitation will be from 2-3 p.m. prior to the service on Sunday at the First Baptist Church.

The family requests that memorial donations be given in Mr. Adams' memory to First Baptist Church, United for Others, P.O. Box 883, Laurinburg, NC 28353.
