LAURINBURG — Mrs. Doris Cooke Taylor, age 81 of Laurinburg passed to her Heavenly home on Feb. 9, 2015.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Thursday at the Richard Boles Funeral Service Chapel with burial following in Scotland Cemetery.

Doris was the daughter of the late Frank and Maggie Cooke, born Aug. 5, 1933 in Columbia, South Carolina. She was the loving and devoted wife to the late Rev. Belton Taylor Jr. that preceded her in death on Oct. 31, 2007. She dedicated her life to serving the Lord, caring for her family and others. She retired after many years of service from Abbott Laboratories and the Scotland County School System. Doris attended the East Laurinburg Church of God and cherished her time with family and friends. She was a loving Christian wife, mother and grandmother that will truly be missed.

In addition to her parents and husband, a brother, Roy Cooke, also preceded her in death.

Surviving are her children, Dianne Taylor Bellamy (Thomas) of Conway, South Carolina, Brenda Taylor Guinn (Tinky) of Laurinburg, Johnny Taylor ( Kathie) of San Antonio, Texas, Janet Taylor Morgan (David) of Laurinburg and Tommy Taylor of Laurinburg; brothers, Bruce Cooke of Jacksonville, Florida and Robert Cooke of Laurinburg; 12 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren and a host of family and friends.

Visitation will be from noon until 1 p.m. Thursday at Richard Boles Funeral Service.

Memorial donations are requested to be given in her memory to the East Laurinburg Church of God, P.O. Box 1954, Laurinburg, NC 28353 or Hospice of Stanley County, 960 North 1st Street, Albemarle, NC 28001.
