Dorothy Robinson Hobbs

LAURINBURG — Dorothy Robinson Hobbs, 86, passed away on Feb. 27, 2016 at Penick Village following a long illness.

Dorothy was born Dec. 5, 1929 in Columbus County, daughter of the late John and Carrie Woolard Robinson. She retired from Abbott Laboratories after many years of service. Before her illness, she served as a faithful and very active member of Calvary Baptist Church. She also enjoyed traveling, shopping, crossword puzzles and attending the Laurel Hill Senior Center.

She was preceded in death by her husband Malcolm Lee Hobbs, Jr., son Randall "Randy" Eugene Hobbs, brothers Dave Robinson, Hyman Robinson, and Bud Robinson, and sisters Lucy R. Tompkins and Marjorie R. Johnson.

Mrs. Hobbs is survived by her sons Malcolm "Mike" Lee Hobbs, III of Laurinburg and Larry Hobbs of Hope Mills, brother Jim Robinson of Bolton, and her nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. on Tuesday at the Richard Boles Funeral Service Chapel. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the funeral home. A private burial will be in Hillside Memorial Park.

The family requests that memorial donations be given in her memory to Calvary Baptist Church of the .
