LAURINBURG — Duncan McNeill "Neill" Watson, Jr., 67, died on Nov. 1, 2013 at Morrison Manor.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Nov. 8 at Spring Hill Baptist Church officiated by Pastor Jim Smith and the Rev. Marvin Seals.
Neill leaves behind to cherish his memory his beloved wife Sarah Webb McIntyre Watson, her children Carl McIntyre (Elizabeth) of Laurinburg, Kathy Morris of Selma, and Mike McIntyre of Forestville, Calif., his sister Mary Wayne Watson of Knightdale, his grandchildren Grace, Liza, and Sawyer McIntyre, his niece Rachel McNeill Watson Bahler, and countless extended family and friends.
Born on Feb. 17, 1946 to Duncan McNeill (Pete) Watson and Mary Fletcher Hoggard Watson, Neill grew up in Wagram, graduating from Wagram High School in 1964. A loyal Tar Heel fan, Neill received his bachelor's degree in pharmacy from UNC-Chapel Hill in 1969 and practiced pharmacy in Laurinburg for many years. Neill supported family and friends in subtle ways; he was an excellent listener, and he did not judge others. He treated everyone he met with respect, and it was impossible not to love him.
When faced with the diagnosis of cancer, Neill did not flinch, exhibiting grace, serenity, strength, courage, humility, and even wit. He reassured those around him constantly, saying, "Whichever way it goes, I will be all right. It is in the hands of God."
Memorials may be made to Spring Hill Baptist Church, PO Box 195, Wagram, NC 28396 or Hospice of Scotland County, PO Box 1033, Laurinburg, NC 28353.
McDougald Funeral Home and Crematorium is serving the family.
