Eunice Russell (1936 - 2017)

LAURINBURG — Eunice Regina Sosa Russell, 80, of Laurinburg, formerly of Hattiesburg, Miss., passed away on Monday, Jan. 16, 2017 at Scotia Village after a 23-year courageous battle with Alzheimer's disease.

Eunice was born in San Antonia, Texas on November 23, 1936, daughter of the late Reginald F. Sosa and Carolina Sosa Zertuche. She was a devoted homemaker and worked as an International Translator and operator with Bellsouth. Mrs. Russell loved her children, grandchildren, her family and friends. Before her illness, she enjoyed worldwide travels, music and dancing and served as a member of St. Thomas Catholic Church in Hattiesburg, Miss.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by former husbands, William W. Allred II and Glen H. Russell; sister, Aida Sosa Flores and brother, Pete Zertuche.

Surviving are her children, son, William W. Allred III of Pensacola, Fla.; daughters, Katherine Allred Cox of Laurinburg; and Amber Allred Ford (Bryan) of Hattiesburg, Miss.; grandchildren, Samantha Cox and Charles "Drew" Cox of Laurinburg; Tristan Ford of Hattiesburg, Miss.; and Brittany Allred of Orlando, Fla. She is also survived by a sister, Naomi Zertuche Garcia (Anselmo) of San Antonio, Texas and her nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank the staff of Scotia Village Tartan II and especially those nurses who cared for Mrs. Russell for their excellent and loving care.

Services will be conducted on Friday, Jan. 20 with Moore Funeral Service in Hattiesburg, Miss..

The family requests in lieu of flowers that memorial donations be given to Scotland Regional Hospice, P.O. Box 1033, Laurinburg, NC 28353.
