LAUREL HILL — George Lester Lewis, age 73 of Laurel Hill, passed away at his home on April 24, 2015.

Funeral services will at 3 p.m. Monday at the Richard Boles Funeral Service Chapel, officiated by the Rev. J. W. Williams. Burial with military honors will follow in Pinecrest Cemetery in Gibson.

George was born July 29, 1941 in Horry County, South Carolina, a son of the late Alexander and Eulee Johnson Lewis. He proudly served and made a career in the United States Army, retiring after many years of dedicated service. He attended both Peele's Chapel Wesleyan Church and Huckabee Grove Emanuel Holiness Church. He loved fishing, working on cars and lawn mowers. He liked to make homemade grape juice and was known as Mr. Coffee.

He is preceded in death by his first wife, Gertrude Williams Lewis; a daughter, Lisa Diana Floyd; brother, Junior Alexander Lewis; sister, Judy Lewis; great grandson, Braylen Honeycutt.

George is survived by his wife, Josephine Martin Lewis of their home in Laurel Hill; sons, Leslie Dewayne Lewis of Murrells Inlet, South Carolina, Ricky Lewis (Jamie) of Rockingham, Daniel Christopher Lewis of Laurel Hill; step son, Jerry Martin (Shirley) of Laurinburg; step daughter, Linda Swelavage (Pete) of Auburn, Pennsylvania; brothers, Kenneth "Pete" Lewis of Scranton, South Carolina, Mike Lewis of Lee, South Carolina; sisters, Zelma Lewis of Marion, South Carolina, Ella Mae Cox of Latta, South Carolina, Bonnie Lewis of Florence, South Carolina, Georgia Lynn "Mickey" Lewis of Darlington, South Carolina, Loretta Lewis of Scranton, South Carolina, Rhonda Lewis of Florence, South Carolina; 10 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and a host of family and friends.

Visitation will be from 7-9 p.m. Sunday at Richard Boles Funeral Service.
