George Patterson Scott

LAURINBURG — George Patterson Scott, 68, departed this life for his Heavenly home on Oct. 30, 2013.

Born on March 12, 1945 in Charleston, S.C., he was the son of the late George Patterson Scott, Sr. and Ruth Williams Scott. He was a Vietnam veteran who proudly served with the United States Marine Corps. He was the owner and operator of Highland Electric Company, which has served Scotland and surrounding counties for over 30 years. He loved Jesus and was a longtime active member of New Life Christian Fellowship where he also served as Church Elder.

George was a devoted family man and he especially cherished his time with his granddaughters. He was a caring man and a special friend to many. He was an avid bridge player and a member of the Lettuce Worship Reunion Group from the Sandhills Emmaus Community.

He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years Cathy Carpenter Scott of their home in Laurinburg, his daughter Shae Scott Parsons and husband Shannon Parsons, his granddaughters Rachel, Molly, and Lilly all of Weddington, his sister Gale Allabach of Raleigh, and a host of very special friends.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Nov. 2 at the Richard Boles Funeral Service Chapel officiated by Pastor Tom Kinder. Burial with military honors will follow in Hillside Memorial Park. The family will be receiving friends at their home and immediately following the service at graveside.
