ROCKINGHAM — Mr. George Leroy Peele of Rockingham, formerly of Gibson passed away at the age of 82 on July 25, 2014.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. today at the Richard Boles Funeral Service Chapel, officiated by Rev. Steve Peele. Entombment with military honors will follow the service in the Peele's Family Cemetery.

George was born July 24, 1932 in Richmond County, son of the late Marvin Buford Peele, Sr., and Annie Bullard Peele. He was a Korean War Veteran that proudly served in the United States Army. He loved his work as a farmer and raising cattle, even giving names to each cow and bull. He also enjoyed fishing and spending time at the beach. George was a unique, kind and compassionate man; he loved living and lived with love and concern for his family and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a brother, Cecil Peele and granddaughter, Tina Goude Monroe.

He is survived by his wife, Sarah Caudle Peele of their home in Rockingham; children, Mitchell Goude and wife Sharon of Laurel Hill, Rev. Robby Caudle and wife Sherry of Hamlet, April Havner and husband Bobby of Rockingham; brothers, Marvin Peele and wife Mattie of Monroe, Va., Horace Peele and wife Trish of San Antonio, Texas; sister, Elizabeth "Lib" White of Hamlet; grandchildren, Amanda Thorton and husband Matt, Crystal Caudle, Travis Havner; three great grandchildren, Mia, Amara, Mason and many special nieces and nephews. Also surviving is a half brother, Larry Knight and half sisters, Maggie English, Kaye Odom, Barbara Alford and Elaine Honeycutt.

Although flowers are welcome, the family requests that memorial gifts be made in Mr. Peele's memory to Pine Grove Baptist Church, 275 Airport Road, Rockingham, NC 28379.
