GIBSON — James Clarence Walters, Jr., known as J.C. to his friends and family, died peacefully at the age of 88 at Morrison Manor on May 24, 2016, after a short illness.

The son of James C. and Martha T. Walters of Whiteville, he later married and moved to Maxton for a 41-year career at Hasty Plywood. After retirement, he and his late wife Jean Peele Walter relocated to Gibson, where he resided near friends and family until his passing. He was a kind and generous man who loved his family, friends and church.

J.C. is survived by his son Allen and wife Whitney of Winter Springs, Florida and their

daughters Gwen and Keeley, his daughter Janet Wright of King George, Virginia and her children Mary, Wendy and Chris, his youngest son Joey Walters of Virginia Beach, Virginia, his stepson Joe Cashwell of Fayetteville, and six great-grandchildren. He was loved and supported by lots of other family and friends in the local area, far too many to mention.

In addition to his parents and wife, J.C. was preceded in death by his sister Betty Walters Oliver.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday at Richard Boles Funeral Service. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday at Tabernacle United Methodist Church, Hwy 381, Hamlet, NC.

The family will also be receiving friends at the home of Vernon and Carolyn Paul, 3576 Barrington Road, Bennettsville, SC.
