James Edward "Jim" Campbell

LAUREL HILL — James "Jim" Edward Campbell, age 65 of Laurel Hill passed away July 3, 2014.

Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Sunday at the Sandhills Free Will Baptist Church with burial following in the Church Cemetery. The Revs. Willie Jacobs and Robert Starner will officiate the services.

Jim was born January 21, 1949 in Columbus County, North Carolina, a son of the late Irvin R. and Marie Myers Campbell. He was a Veteran that proudly served with the United States Army. He retired from Z.F. Meritor, Inc. after many years of service. He attended the Sandhills Free Will Baptist Church, enjoyed bowling, golfing and NASCAR racing.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a brother, Richard Campbell.

Surviving are his four sons, James D. Campbell and wife Stacey of King, NC, Jeremy Campbell of Vass, Mike Campbell and Matt Campbell both of Laurel Hill; sisters, Pat Chamberlain and husband Bill, and Diane Allard all of Florida; grandchildren, Krissie Campbell, Ian Campbell, Audry Campbell, Nora Campbell; one niece, Megan Allard; a special friend, Caroline Starner of Laurel Hill and a host of family and friends.

Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. today at the Sandhills Free Will Baptist Church.

The family request that memorial gifts be made in Mr. Campbell's memory to the or Hospice of Scotland County.
