LAURINBURG — John Benjamin "Ben" Taylor Jr., age 57 of Laurinburg passed away on Jan. 9, 2015 at Scotland Memorial Hospital.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. today at the Richard Boles Funeral Service Chapel with burial following in Scotland Cemetery.

Ben was born March 23, 1957 in Scotland County, a son of John "Ervin" Benjamin Taylor Sr. and Frances McKenzie Taylor of Laurinburg. He was a loving and devoted husband to Darlene Jackson Taylor and together they owned and operated B&D Norris Storage Buildings in Hamlet and Cheraw, South Carolina. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing. He served as a member of the Bennettsville Emanuel Holiness Church. Ben loved spending time with his family and friends, especially his grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a grandson, Gavin Quick.

He is survived by his wife, Darlene J. Taylor of the home; sons, John Benjamin Taylor III and wife Katherine of Fletcher, North Carolina and Kenneth E. Hutto of Porter, Indiana; daughters, Meredith LeAnn Taylor of Raeford, Amanda Joy Taylor of Laurinburg and Julia Sweatman of Bamburg, South Carolina; his parents, John "Ervin" and Frances Taylor of Laurinburg; brother, Timothy "Tim" Taylor and sister Becky Sue Sheppard, both of Laurinburg. and seven grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the Bennettsville Emanuel Holiness Church or to the American Cancer Association.
