LAUREL HILL — Jon Eugene Cox, 75, of Laurel Hill passed away on Friday, Aug. 11, 2017.

Jon was a son of the late Burl Boyd Cox and Ruth Virginia Campbell Cox born October 11, 1941 in Harrison County, Missouri. He was a proud United States Army veteran who served with the 82nd Air Borne Special Forces. He retired after 25 years of service as an electrician with Earl's Electrical Heating and Air Conditioning and served as a faithful member of the Springfield Church of God.

Before his illness, he enjoyed skydiving and fishing. He also enjoyed reading and working crossword puzzles. Jon was a devoted husband, father and grandfather whose greatest joy was sharing time with his family, especially with his grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by granddaughter, Elizabeth Cox-Tyner and his brothers, William Boyd Cox and Harry Leroy "H.L." Cox.

Jon leaves behind his devoted wife of 55 years, Peggy Ann Dunn Cox of their home; his children, Burl Eugene Cox of Laurel Hill; and Robin Lynn Dew of Laurinburg; a sister, Mary Jane Blessing of Albuquerque, N.M.; his seven grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and a host of loving family and friends.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 15 at the Springfield Church of God officiated by Pastor David Shoemake. Burial with military honors will follow in Pinecrest Cemetery.

Memorial donations are requested to be given in Jon's memory to Scotland Regional Hospice, P.O. Box 1033, Laurinburg, NC 28353.
