MAXTON — Kay Greason Henderson, 72, of Maxton, passed away on Wednesday, July 12, 2017 at FirstHealth Moore Regional.

Born October 3, 1944, in Robeson County, she was a daughter of the late Herbert Redfern and Kathleen Riddle Greason. Kay grew up in St. Pauls. She received her degree in Library Science at East Carolina University and served as Librarian at Carolina Military Academy in Maxton and Flora Macdonald Academy in Red Springs for 25 years. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, the Student Club of Maxton for 40 years and also volunteered at Scotland Memorial Hospital.

Kay loved to read, gardening, beach time with her family and the annual Henderson Dove Hunt. Kay also loved spending time with family and truly, truly enjoyed her grandchildren. Even though she was handicapped, she never let that stand in her way.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory her husband of 52 years, Lou Henderson; her three daughters, Kathy Carter (Chris) of Marietta, Ga.; Heather DeAngelis (Kiernan) of Holly Springs and Holly Pilson (Eric) of Wilmington; one sister, Frances Greason of Hillsborough; one brother, George Greason (Jo) of Raleigh; grandchildren, Taylor Carter, Louis Carter, Kathleen Carter, Kayleigh Frances DeAngelis and Anna Louise Pilson.

Kay's family would like to extend their thanks to the Autumn Care staff in Raeford for the love, compassion and care they gave for their loved one.

Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. on Saturday, July 15 at McDougald Funeral Home.

A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. on Sunday, July 16 at First Presbyterian Church in Maxton officiated by Dr. Robert Dendy. Interment will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery, Maxton.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the National , 9707 E Easter Lane Suite B, Centennial, CO or First Presbyterian Church, 303 N. Patterson St., Maxton, N.C. 28364.
