McCOLL, S.C. — Mrs. Lana Gail Jones Nicholson, 70, passed away on Oct.12, 2014 at Morrison Manor in Laurinburg.

A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. on Wednesday at Rogers Funeral Home officiated by the Rev. Brian Oxendine and the Rev. Opie Swails. Burial will follow at Beaverdam Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday at Rogers Funeral Home.

Born on May 13, 1944 in Marlboro County, she was daughter of the late Willie T. "Bill" and Rosa Lee Teston Jones. Mrs. Nicholson was a retired cafeteria manager with Marlboro County Schools. She was a member of Oak Hill Church of God, and also attended Multitudes Church with her daughter on occasion. She loved to paint and draw, along with working with her hands and tools. She was a true "handywoman" and was very creative. Lana loved to sing, and even wrote a few songs. Mrs. Nicholson loved the Lord, and always witnessed to people about the Lord. She was always happy and had a very unique sense of humor even through her sickness. Her life was a true testimony, even to the end.

Along with her parents listed above, she was preceded in death by her biological mother Leah Deuell and son-in-law Don Aaron Lockey.

She is survived by her husband Terry Nicholson of the home, daughter Wanda Johnson Lockey of Laurinburg, step-daughter Lisa Renee Willis (Lee Williams) of Bennettsville, S.C., stepfather Jimmy Deuell, brother Wayne Stiffler (Carol) of Hampton, Va., sister Linda Parker (Steve) of Stedman, grandchildren Erin Gabrielle Lockey, Haley Alexandra Lockey, Rebecca Danielle Ainsworth, Michael Thomas Ainsworth, and Crit Ray Willis, and an expected great-grandchild.
