LAURINBURG — Mrs. Mary Moore Casale, 83, of Laurinburg, died on Nov. 22, 2017.

Born August 4, 1934 in Smithfield, she was a daughter of the late William Lee Moore and Cathleen Gower Moore Best.

She was one of the heirs of the Poole original land grant in Johnston County. The land grant was given to her paternal great grandfather, George Poole from King George of England. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church. At St. Mary she was a Eucharistic Minister, and co-founder and co-director of St. Mary Wednesday night dinners for fellowship.

She was a graduate nurse of Charlotte Memorial Hospital School of Nursing and was licensed and worked in North Carolina, South Carolina, Pennsylvania, and the District of Columbia.

She was employed at Scotland Memorial Hospital for over 25 years having served as a staff nurse, infection control nurse, director of nursing education, and nursing supervisor. She was a member of the Young at Heart Club and was co-founder of the Retired Nurses "Lunch Bunch" of Scotland Memorial Hospital. She was a member of Scotland County Nursing Home advisory committee for the protection of patients.

She is preceded in death by her husband, John F. Casale, her brother, James W. Moore and two sisters, Nancy M. Creech and Margaret Ann Moore.

She is survived by her sons, John F. Casale, Jr., and wife Ellen of Ashburn, Va.; and Charles T. Casale and wife Sally of Willow Springs; a daughter, Cathleen C. Morgan and husband Randy Morgan of League City, Texas; a brother, William L. Moore of Raleigh; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be 7 to 8:30 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 27 at St. Mary Catholic Church.

A Mass of the Resurrection will be 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 28 at St. Mary Catholic Church with burial following at Hillside Memorial Park.

She loved her family dearly. They were foremost in her thoughts and prayers. Please pray for her.
