LAURINBURG — Mary Ruth Franklin Cooper, 61, passed away peacefully to her Heavenly home on March 6, 2016.

Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. on Thursday at the Little Mission Holiness Church with burial following in the church cemetery.

Mary Ruth was born March 3, 1955 in Anderson, South Carolina, a loving daughter of Kate Woody Franklin and the late Rev. Elbert Franklin. A wonderful homemaker, she dedicated her life to loving and caring for her family and friends. She faithfully served the Lord and was a member of Little Mission Holiness Church. She enjoyed quilting, painting, gardening, and truly loved her time with family.

In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her sister Lois Dyer.

Ruth leaves to cherish her memory her husband of 37 years the Rev. Ellis Cooper of their home in Laurinburg, sons Edmond "Emory" Cooper and Alex Cooper, daughters Erica Lynn Cooper Cummings, Katina Pittman, Kari Maynor, Ashley Brooke Dew, Amber Locklear, Cooper Lynita Bryant, and Sherri Hammonds, her mother Mrs. Kate Woody Franklin, brothers William Franklin (Cheryl) of Baldwin, Georgia and Lou Franklin (Patsy) of Cornelia, Georgia, sisters Debbie Cooper (Edmond) of Wagram, Kay Holcombe (Jerry) of Burnsville, Nancy Higgins (Gene) of Wagram, and Kimberly Griffin (Carroll) of Lula, Georgia, grandchildren Cameron Cummings, Jaxon Maynor, Henry Pittman, Lucy Clarie Pittman, Jase Parker Cummings, Alexandria Rose Cooper, Ashton Hammonds, Madysan Hammonds, and Braleigh Hammonds, many nieces and nephews, and a host of family and friends.

Visitation for family and friends will be from 5-9 p.m. on Wednesday at the Cooper family home.

In Ruth's memory, the family requests that memorial donations be given to the Little Mission Holiness Church, 18601 Airbase Road, Laurinburg, NC 28352.
