Michele Pieters McAlister

WOODBURY, Minn. — Michele Pieters McAlister, 50, died unexpectedly on April 15, 2014 while visiting family and friends in Belgium.

Her husband Steve, her sons Justin and Jeremy, her mother Noel Pieters, and siblings Martine Pieters and Alain Pieters of Belgium survive her. Her father Edgar Pieters preceded her in death.

Viewing will start at 1 p.m. on followed by a memorial service at 2 p.m. on Sunday at O'Halloran & Murphy Woodbury.

Michele was an active volunteer in many community organizations including Arc Greater Twin Cities and Pacer Center, as well as serving on the Special Education Advisory Council for District 833. She was a tireless advocate for the rights of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities and was a regular visitor with her Therapy Dog Coco to the Juvenile Correctional facility in Redwing.

Michele celebrated life through her actions. She was loved by many and will be missed by all.
