WAGRAM — Patricia Long, 77, passed away on Tuesday, June 27, 2017, at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital in Norfolk, Va.

Born January 5, 1940, in Fayette County, Pa., Patricia was the daughter of the late Harry and Nellie King Haught. She was a teacher in both Pennsylvania and West Virginia. During her years in Wagram, Patricia was an instructor for Richmond Community College in Hamlet.

She was very passionate about being an educator and helped many students further their education in the community. Patricia had diverse interests. She especially enjoyed traveling, golf, reading, bridge and gardening. One of her great joys was to watch her grandchildren play sports, something she had also done with her two sons.

She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Donald L. Long; sons, Patrick H. Long and wife Page of Birmingham, Ala., and Donald H. Long of Charlotte; and her grandchildren, Ashleigh Long, Wyatt Long, Carter Long, Davis Long, Elizabeth Long and Margaret Long.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, July 8 at Montpelier Presbyterian Church in Wagram and will be officiated by the Rev. Jim Smith. The family will receive friends following the service in the church fellowship hall.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: Montpelier Presbyterian Church, P.O. Box 407, Wagram, NC 28396 and Carova Beach Volunteer Fire Dept. and Rescue, 2169 Ocean Pearl Rd., Corolla, NC 27927-9325.
