LAURINBURG — Peggy Veronica Willis, 74, peacefully went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, Oct. 13, 2016.

She was born on October 7, 1942 in Sanford, NC to the late Albert Woodrow Willis and Alma Humphrey Willis.

Peggy grew up in Laurinburg, but has been in Gaston County since 1988. She worked for A&E (American & Efird) as a laborer where until her retirement in 2002. Peggy enjoyed spending time with her family, friends, and pets. She loved watching television, drinking her coffee while looking outside, smoking her cigarettes, and talking smack.

Peggy's passion for children and her need to ensure that each child knew love created many friendships over the years led her to be known as Aunt Peggy or Nanna Peggy. She cared for children so much primarily because she was unable to have her own, until an adoption.

Peggy is survived by son, Norm Medlock and future daughter-in-law Tanya Caldwell of Gastonia; sister, Patricia Kersey of Laurinburg; brother, Albert Willis Jr. (Nancy Willis) of Wagram; sister, Naomi Burdine (Melvin Burdine) of Rockingham; sister, Sylvia Sloan (Doug Sloan) of Fayetteville; sisters-in- law, Catherine Willis of Laurinburg, Lori Willis of Raeford; brother-in- law, Jerry Brownlow of Bonham, TX, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Peggy was preceded in death by her husband, Johnny "Buddy" Medlock and siblings, Barry Willis, Raymond Willis, Glendora Brownlow, and Marshall Kersey.

A funeral service will be held at the Wagram Church of God in Wagram, at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 16. A visitation will be held prior to the service on Sunday beginning at 1:30 p.m. at Wagram Church of God. Burial and Grave Side Ceremony will follow the funeral in Laurinburg Memorial Park, formerly Scotland Cemetery.
